Dakar - Sightseeing
September 26, 2006
This night it rained heavily. It was rainy season in Senegal. But that doesn't mean it rains every day. During the two weeks it just rained twice for a few hours but heavily. The result you can see immediately. The depressions were filled with dirty water (you can see this on the pictures), streets brake down.
The most time of sightseeing we spent in the bus. The guides were so worried about us. They thought we had no idea how to react in this city. Finally we just saw a museum (traditional art and traditional way of life were to view) and la porte du troisième millénaire at close range. On the way to the monument of the millennium (we had to walk because the bus couldn't drive to this point) we saw the great mosque of Dakar. It was always a very strange feeling to drop out of the bus as a white group in Africa. Lots of people gaze at you. And of course the informal sector stands beside you after few seconds (Wanna buy that, wanna buy this? - they were so besetting).
