The Round Grill
The Round Grill is a Mongolian restaurant located right across the street from the New Brunswick train station. We went to the Round Grill to have a small celebration for my birthday. Nobody orders from the menu, the buffet is the best thing in New Jersey. You can put as much noodles, meat, and veggies as you can possibly fit into one of their humongous bowls and then follow one of the sauce recipes. You then bring the bowl to the chefs who cook it in front of your very eyes in an incredibly short time.
They cook it by passing it on top of a hot “grill” which is supposed to be derived from the Mongolian shields on which it was originally cooked. In the warring days, soldiers would cook their food on their shields over a fire; the vegetables and meat were of course cut into very small pieces to save on the scarce firewood.
