Went to visit a couple of beautiful places in Egypt...
Cairo... the pyramids, the Egyptian Museum (the mummies still give me nightmares! :)), the bazar, and so on. Highlight: a local restaurant where we got some great dishes, a good shisha after dinner and a walk in the parc, only locals arround and sudenly hearing the prayers rising up from all over the city (the parc is located on a higher part), a very intens moment!
Alexandria... a city that has a lot to offer, excellent fish restaurants, you can dive in the harbor and see some great egyptian statues, the Montanza garden are so peaceful, and so on. Highlights: the library!!! And the crazy night life :)
Sharm el Sheik... a little bit to touristic for my taste but forgot the feeling when I was snorkling in one of the beautiful reefs!
Highlight of the whole visit: we visited an orphanage in the outskirts of Cairo. It was founded by a women that wanted to gic ve a home to abandoned children. The house has different floors, each floor represents 'a home' for a group of girls or boys, more or less 6 children per floor. Each group of children has their own mother, a woman that has given up her personal life to come and live in the orphanage and take care 24/24 of the children she's responsible for. They really made it a home, with eye for detail, and they really take good care of these children in a hard environment. Heads of for them!!!
