At Madrid airport we take the shuttle bus to our hotel, Sofitel Madrid Campo de las Naciones. It is located on the outskirts of Madrid. The Sofitel does offer a free taxi to Madrid (Just ask the concierge about the shuttle to Madrid), but it's only available once an hour. Not wanting to waist our time waiting, we took the subway to the city. It's cheap, clean and fast!
We only stay for one night, so we decide to take a bus tour of madrid. You'll see all the sites in just two hours. It's a beautifull city, which we really need to come back to. Our concierge recommended to go for tapas at the Plaza de Santa Ana, instead of the touristic Plaza Mayor. And he was right, we had some great tapas here, and the Plaza is filled with locals comming together for tapas and drinks. Before we know it, it is time to head back to the hotel before the subway stops operating. We pick up some breakfast for the next morning on the way.
The Sofitel has awesome beds! They are so comfertable, you don't want to get up in the morning. We have to.. It's now Tuesday, and we need to check out, go to the airport and fly to Lisbon. We decide to take an early TAP flight, this will alow us some more time in Lisbon. We get to the airport, but there is nothing going on at the TAP checkin counters. The airplane has technical problems, and hasn't left Lisbon yet. The agents didn't receive any information about when to expect the airplane or a smaller airplane. There goes our plan. We go to terminal 4, to Iberia. The flight will leave a couple of hours later, but there is space available. We arrive in Lisbon a couple of minutes before the TAP flight we were suppose to fly on.
