People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Juliana (Russia)
Arriving in Krasnoyarsk, we were greeted by heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures. We had planned to take a trip to the nearby Stolby rock formations but the combination of a blizzard and low lying clouds put an end to this idea! We took shelter in a nearby coffee shop, before realising our only option was to dress up like Kenny from South Park and venture into the snow!
We hiked up a nearby mountain, for some great city views and at the top a couple had just got married in the Chasovnya Chapel, which is featured on the 10 Ruble bank note. We headed back down into the centre of town and took a quick peek at the Lokomotiv football stadium, before once more heading for some shelter in a nearby cafe. When we finally emerged the snow had stopped, but temperatures had dropped to -6 and the ground was extremely icy. Unfortunately Russia does nothing (grit the roads or pavements) when conditions are like this, so walking becomes more like skating, slipping and stumbling!
With our train to Irkutsk not leaving until 02.00 we decided to buy some food and beers and drink them in the train station. Eventually the time dragged by and we excitedly jumped on the train for another fun filled 19 hour journey!
