Me and Portia playing pool at the bus station

People I met here who contributed to, and improved my trip: Julia (Russia), Portia (USA)

Having returned from our trip, Julia and I were famished, so left Portia at the hotel and went to eat some fast food at Dicos. There's only so much Chinese food i can eat in one day, so a chicken burger really hits the spot at moments like these. After a quick trip back to our hotel, to get freshened up, we walked back around to Portia's hotel to pick her up for Dinner.

The three of us had all been pretty happy with our previous evening at the night market, so we agreed to go back there again. A wide selection of food was chosen, including Beggars Chicken (chicken baked inside a clay pot in an oven), Lamb Kebab, Dumplings, Grilled Fish and Noodles. It was a feast fit for a King, well at least an ancient King, who wouldn't be so arsy about eating with his hands, whilst sat on a wooden bench at a linoleum covered table! It had been another tiring day, so after a brief stop at at internet cafe, we went back to our room and fell asleep before midnight.

The following day the 3 of us met up at the bus station, where we walked in on Portia playing pool! I had never seen pool tables in a bus station before, so had to give the balls a whack around, whilst we waited to board the bus.

Departure time was 09.30 and the views of the Qilian Shan Mountain range as we left Jiayuguan were fantastic. The road that took us to Dunhuang was excellent, a newly paved dual carriageway, which made the 400KM journey possible in just 5 hours. I wasn't really sure why they had built the road to be honest, as we only passed the occasional lorry, every mile or so, but it made our journey more comfortable, so i can't complain! A fantastic 'Chinglish' sign that i saw during the journey read 'Do drunken driving', I think they should have got that proof read before putting it up!
