Sille
People i met here who contributed to, and improved my trip: Olcay, Kadir and Mustafa (Turkey)
I had found myself pretty bored in Konya the previous day, so decided that i would make a day trip to nearby Sille on Tuesday. On paper the journey shouldn't have taken too long, but it ended up taking two hours to technically travel just 9kms out of the City. At least 90 minutes of this were spent getting from Olcay's house to the centre and then having to wait quite some time for a connecting bus. On the bus from Konya to Sille, the driver let me ride for free, presumably because i was a foreigner, which was rather kind of him.
I wasn't too sure what to expect from the village, but i was pleasantly surprised to find a quaint little hamlet with small mountains on all sides. As there was nothing in particular to see, i just wandered around the streets and up into the hills, which had some small rooms cut from the rocks. I would have investigated a bit more was it not for a guard dog that was intent on scaring me off - which it did quite successfully!
I didn't need much more than an hour to walk every street in the village and then i realised that i had sod all to do for the rest of the day. I sat on a wall eating some Antep Pistachios that i had bought the previous day and decided to catch the next bus back to Konya. As luck would have it, the same driver turned up and gave me a free lift back, bonus!
Back in Konya i bought some snacks to take with me to the internet cafe and spent the remainder of my day chatting online to Julia and basically just trying to kill some time. Once it became dark i went to eat my fourth kebab in two days - surely not healthy - and then caught the bus back to Olcay's house. The evening was relatively quiet until about 22.45, when Kadir brought home a Playstation 2 and we all sat around playing Pro Evolution Soccer, which is one of the most famous and addictive games on the market. I went to bed at 01.00 and left the boys all still up and playing, because i had to wake up at 06.30 the following morning to catch my bus to Egirdir.
