People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Julia (Russia), Hannes (Sweden), David and Emilie (Australia)
After the trials and tribulations of Mount Kinabalu and our huge disappointment at Poring Hot Springs, our soul purpose of staying in Sandakan was for a little bit of pampering. Having found the wonderful Hotel London the previous evening, Julia, Hannes and I enjoyed some comfy beds, air conditioning, hot shower and tv with DVD player in our room. We therefore made it our mission to see how many films we could watch and how little we could move! We did surprisingly well, only venturing out on our first day for a KFC at lunch time and to use the internet.
On the evening however, we met up with Dave and Emilie and after another decent evening meal, we bought a bottle of vodka and hit the roof top terrace with a pack of cards. We enjoyed a game of trumps, with Hannes coming out the winner and Dave and Emilie seemingly doing everything in their power to make the other one lose! Vodka finished, we closed the evening with another movie in our room.
The next day we once more excelled in doing absolutely nothing other than watching DVD's and sleeping, with the exception of a trip out to get some food and use the net. That night however, we had to agree that our legs were slowly starting to fuction in a reasonable manner again, thus we booked our jungle trip for the following day and wrapped up an uninthralling, but much needed 3 days of rest in Sandakan.
