Mengwi Temple
People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Juliana (Russia)
The trip from Ubud to Mengwi was a very scenic one, as we passed through rice terraces and small villages. We hadn't actually planned on visiting the temple here, but as we passed it on the road to Lake Bratan, we figured that we may as well. I was actually really pleased that we did stop, as there were some very pretty structures and a nice garden and pond to walk around. Julia managed to get stuck on some steps climbing down a tower, been the gentleman that i am, i stood and laughed and took a photo!
Before we set off on the motorbike again, Julia picked some flowers to put in her helmet. They looked quite pretty, but travelling at 100km/h, they didn't stand much chance of lasting.
We stopped in a roadside eatery for some chicken and rice before pushing on up the mountain towards Lake Bratan. The higher we rose, the more foggy and cold it became, until at one point i could only see a couple of metres in front of me. Eventually we made it to the top of the pass, where we took a short break, which was long enough for Julia to wolf down one of her beloved corns and find some new flowers for her helmet!Setting off down the mountain, we kept our eyes peeled for any signs to the lake, but after a few kilometres, we stopped to ask directions. We were pointed back in the direction from which we had come and as the fog was so thick, we decided that there really wasn't any point in returning and instead pushed on for the nearby Lake Buyan.
