Palace on Nowy Swiat, the Royal Way

People i met here who contributed to, and improved my trip: Stale (Norway), Juergen (Canada), Brett (Australia), Jose (Australia), Magda (Poland), Nathans Villa receptionists (Poland)

I visited Warsaw 3 years ago, but due to a lack of accomodation i only saw the central area around the train station. Over the last 3 years though, Warsaw has developed its tourist infrastructure and is bustling with foreign backpackers. I only planned to stay here 4 nights, but like many places i expect nothing from, there was a lot to be found and i was sad to leave after 10 nights.

If you are willing to walk a lot, then Warsaw has a lot to offer. Other than the regular tourist attractions such as the Uprising Museum, Royal Way, Old Town, Russian Market, Palace of Culture and Science etc there are also some beautiful parks and gardens and a vibrant, interesting nightlife.

Old Town Square
My favourite park in particular was Mokotovsky which has a nice pond and great restaurants. I was lucky enough to meet several local people also, who were extremely friendly and helped me discover the alternative side of Warsaws nightlife. Other than 'The Underground', located under the main McDonalds, there were interesting restaurants, bars and clubs down many of the back streets within the central area... you just have to keep looking... Id recommend picking up the guidebook 'In Your Pocket' and checking out anywhere it describes as alternative and don't expect to arrive in before sunrise ;)
