People i met here who contributed to, and improved my trip: Julia (Russia)
Back to Jakarta and once again we stayed at the tried and trusted Bloemsteen Hostel. Having spent 2 months with internet access that made Spectrums look quick, our first port of call was to an internet cafe to try and get back to speed with family, friends and travbuddy :) Believe it or not, we changed our body clocks so as to be awake through the night and therefore make the most of the discounted internet rates, that were on offer throughout the night! Now thats budget travelling for you :)
In total, we were stuck in Jakarta for nearly 5 days, as there were no ferries running up the west coast of Sumatra, due to earthquakes and fears of another tsunami.
So 4 days of Internet, Poker, Ludo, meals at Romance Cafe and Ice Creams in the air conditioning of McDonalds followed. It seemed like a bit of a waste of time and probably was, but after been deprived of easily accessible Internet for so long, i wasn't too bothered. Its just a shame that we weren't stuck in a more appealing city, but beggars can't always be choosers and this was to be the case.
Our flight over Sumatra proved to be a pretty one to begin with, as the West of Java and South of Sumatra was cloudless and sunny. The second we hit central Sumatra the storm clouds had rolled in and looked pretty ominous. Thankfully we arrived before the weather had really turned and i was psyched to be getting the chance to check out one of the Worlds largest islands.
