People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Julia (Russia)
A couple of hours into our overnight bus journey from Semporna to Kota Kinabalu, it became obvious that our clapped out bus was not going to make it the distance. After breaking down several times, it eventually gave up the ghost at around midnight in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully i was so tired that i happily fell asleep whilst waiting for another bus to be sent to pick us up. Around 4am we transfered buses and this meant that our 10 hour journey had descended into a 15 hour one.
After catching a local bus into town and checking in at Summer Lodge once more, we realised that our bags had a disgustingly sickly smell to them. This had arisen from them having been pressed up against a crate of Durians in the bottom of the bus. Now i've never tasted one of these fruits, but after having my bag ingrained with the smell, i don't believe i ever could without wretching.
We spent the day buying some postcards, having a wander around, catching up on some internet and eating some junk food like Pizza Hut and McDonalds, as we had grown tired of all the rice and chicken knuckles that we had been made to eat on Mabul! We had an early evening in preperation of a day of travelling to Brunei, which lay ahead of us.
