We got back into Irkutsk on Thursday after a trouble free journey from Lake Baikal and in time to pick up our passports, complete with Mongolian visa. We spent Friday trying to pass the time until our evening train, by playing cards, drinking tea and eventually succumbing to sampling our last Russian beers for the foreseeable future! Eventually the time came to head to the station to catch the train, but not before Russia hit us with one final parting shot.... Julia took a tumble on the stairs in the platform and ended up with some hefty bruises on her legs. For all i loved St Petersburg, the rest of Russia seemed to have been cursed, although all the experiences and annoyances Julia and I shared had certainly brought us closer together
