People i met here, who contributed to and improved my trip: Julia (Russia)

We arrived into Semporna and checked into Lonely Planets recommended guest house, the Dragon Inn. We were happy enough to stay in a dorm and looking forward to our first proper shower in 3 days. We noticed the no refunds policy notice as we checked in, but didn't think too much of it. We made our beds and i bagsied first to the shower. After looking in the toilet block and finding no showers i went to reception to enquire where they were. 'We don't have any' was the reply to a shell shocked dirty westerner. Oh and no refunds! I was really annoyed, but what scared me more was what Julia's reaction would be :) Thankfully she was so exhausted that we settled for complaining thoroughly to each other about what a horrible place this was and how we would be leaving in the morning.

After taking a bucket wash, we went out to Uncle Changs dive shop to book our room on Mabul Island and diving trips to Sipadan. Our mood soon turned to despair when they informed us that diving to Sipadan was booked up for a week and they had no space at their guest house! We therefore went to Scuba Junkies and found that they were booked for 4 days and also had no accomodation. However, it turned out that dive courses were really cheap here, so we ended up deciding that Julia would take her open water certificate and i would dive in Mabul whilst i waited for a Sipadan vacancy. The accomodation issue was also sorted out when we founf out that a space at Uncle Changs was available for 2 days time. We therfore found another hotel in Semporna for the following night, ate some food and got an early night.

As we had a day to kill in Semporna, we took the chance to catch up on our mountain of emails and try to keep up with my blogs! Although i love sharing my stories with you guys, i sometimes wish i could just do a quick dictation, or better still have you all hear with me, to share the experience first hand :)))
