After a sleepless night of listening to Matt snore and having scary thoughts of Wolf Creek and The Blair Witch, I crawled out of bed and was glad to see Matt had started the fire. Not wanting to cook we decided to go into town and have breakfast at the local café. We enjoyed a yummy breakfast, and then decided to check out the sites of Dwellingup. First stop was to the Dwellingup Information Centre. Even though I’d been here so many times before I’d never explored Dwellingup. I guess that’s because the National Park is such a great place we didn’t really want to leave to go look at stuff. Well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it J
The lady at the Information Centre gave us a couple of places to look at, they were the North and South Dandalup Dams, the arts centre and a couple of other places but I can’t remember what they were, which is maybe why we didn't go and check them out.
There is a POW camp in Dwellingup which I’d been to before and would like to of gone back but due to the recent fires it was not advisable, so instead we decided to check out the dams first. We drove out to the dams and they were actually quite nice dams. Only problem was the further we walked out to the centre the windier it got and it was bloody cold!! BRRRRR… [Insert shiver here].
After looking at the two dams we headed back into town and got some more supplies for tonight’s dinner. The only must buy items was something to actually cook dinner on. Matt bought a wire frame thingy that you can put into the fire so we didn't need a fry pan. Now with that sorted we bought some wood as we found out that it is illegal to take wood from the national park. I should’ve known this seeing as I’ve been coming here for years…Oh well. It’s not like we cut a tree down or anything J
Settling in for another cold night was spent around the fire with a few more cold beers.
Retiring early tonight I was hoping to get to sleep before Matt due to his snoring but no such luck :). After hours to tossing and turning I ended up going to sleep in the car and managed to get some sleep, but could still hear Matt snoring from the car. Why me!! haha
The next morning Matt was still snoring away (haha) in the tent so I decided to start packing. Matt eventually got up and we had the car packed in no time and headed back to Perth. It was a good trip and was glad to be able to show Matt a bit of WA before his trip around Oz.
