Last night was the first for 4 days when I had not slept with a hat and gloves and I was not cold. Today we can take our time as there is not far to go but there is one steep climb into Chhomrong. For some fun we try to guess how many steps there are on the climb to Chhomrong, I guess 1200 and Khim 1500. We count them and there are 2080! At Fishtail lodge we meet Linda and Camilla, collect the gear we left earlier and wishing the girls a safe trip then head on down to Jhinu for lunch.
Yesterday we hear there has been a festival in Jhinu to the "God of knowledge" and there has been a big party. Khim thinks that it will be over now but says he could be wrong.
The guest house at Jhinu is the best yet, set around a very pleasant garden and sheltered from the wind. In late afternoon we go down to th e hot springs a 15 minute walk down from the village. The springs consist of 3 small pools and a shower and as expected are busy with trekkers heading up and down the mountain as this is a popular stopping off point. We soak in the pool for an hour and then trudge back up to the guest house and order tea. At 5:30 Ine and Aukje arrive looking for me to escort them to the springs and agree to my fee of a beer. We get back down to the springs just after dusk and I have another hour relaxing in the hot water, but this time we have the place to ourselves, but it would be even better if you could buy a beer there. My torch dies on the way back to Jhinu but we find our way back to the Nameste guest house for a late dinner and a celebratory can of Tuborg. It may not be the best beer in the world but at the moment it tastes fantastic.
