Waiting for the green light
Since we made it here quicker then we thought and our dinner date wasn't for another 1 1/2 hours we decided to get off the highway and check out Fort Monroe, which we didn't get to see when we were in this area the week before. When we got here we almost didn't get out of the car because on top of the cold it started raining too. The first rain we had the entire trip. (Lucky us)
The fort was very impressive. Built as one of the first fortresses along the coast. We walked on the same grounds that Abe Lincoln had been on a couple of years ago. ;-)
The rain started getting heavier so we decided to get going. We got to the "Outback Steakhouse" at around 6 pm and lingered there for as long as possible because it was pouring outside. But sooner or later we had to get going for the last stretch of our journey. We were only 2 1/2 hours from home and I wasn't going to pay another time to stay at a motel. So at around 8pm we were finally off. After 20 minutes of driving the rain stopped and we had a smooth rest of the way from there. At about 10pm we got HOME and went straight to bed. hahaha
