Starting early for a journey
How i love waking up in the middle of the night (NOT! as Borat would say) Anyways i was at least getting payed from when i left my home so hey i'll live:)
I got to work in plenty of time waiting for the guy i was traveling with to Kiev and this was work related so those of you who know what i do for work knows what its about. I was sitting there waiting when the phone rang at the front desk at work and it was the officer i was waiting for telling me that he was delayed at 04:30 in the morning due to a traffic accident and i guess i should have known already at this time it would be a day of bad luck for traveling. Our flight was supposed to leave at 06:35 and time was 05:36 when we finally got to the airport. So we had to hurry up and go through security in a rush as well as exchanging some money. The rush to the gate was unnecessary since we ended up sitting on the plane for 2 hours due to delays in Frankfurt where there were thick fog causing cancellations and delays for everyone. So once we got to Frankfurt we had to rush off to find out what was happening to the conecting flight going to Kiev. Well, it just happend to be that our flight left 6 minutes before we arrived talk about bad luck. So there we were waiting for another 2 hours in line trying to rebook our tickets so we could get to Kiev today, Feb 14th. Well after having waited for 2 hours we finally got to the gate where we were flying to Vienna for transit to Kiev. Still with our luck that day once we got to the gate we were told the flight was cancelled and there were no food to get either from Lufthansa since more then half of the traveling people were in the same situation as us. While the woman was checking her computer another flight showed up on the screen and there it was a new flight leaving for Vienna and it looked like we were going to make the flight to Kiev after all. We arrived in Vienna with plenty of margin for making our flight to Kiev. While we were standing on the bus taking us to the airport out on the airfield there were two people we were waiting for to get on the bus so we could go. My god i am sure if they walked any slower they would fall over hahaha One of them were wearing shorts and white tennis socks with slippers so i wasn't too sure if he was on this earth LOL I was told by one of them i was traveling with that it was a rapper called Fatman scoop but even with all that money he didn't seem to use them on a stylist to help him with getting some proper clothes haha. .
Finally we were there at the gate waiting for our flight to Kiev..Wow i was worried for a second that we had to spend the night at Frankfurt airport, but it all got sorted out pretty well..LOL The captain announced over the microphone that we were ready for touchdown and welcomed us to Kiev. I must admit once i heard the word touchdown i thought of american football LOL We landed local time at 21:00 PM and that means i got some extra money that day since i got payed overtime from 12:30 til 21:00:) Who's complaning lol....
Oh i have to tell you all about the crazy lady on the flight from Oslo to Frankfurt. Ok ju€st as we landed the woman stood up infront of her seat ready to get off the plane. Well, first of all the flight had hardly put the wheels on the ground before she stood up and while we were still roling into gate she actually went passed the person sitting on the outer seat. She stood there and was actually told over the microphone by the stewardess and she finally sat down while turning her head in all directions..Before the seatbealt sign was switched off she jumped out infront of the man and pushed her way down the middle up to the front door. It was the craziest thing i've ever seen from a passanger who obviously was in such a rush she was ready to kick the door down LOL
Friday morning i woke up around 07:30 and went down for breakfast after 45 min. I sat there taking things easy noticing the weather sucked big time, but i'd never been to Kiev and even if i didn't have the proper walking shoes or gloves i was damed to sitt inside the hotel all day before leaving. So once the guy i was traveling with came down he told me he wasn't going outside due to no jacket haha That i can understand i had at least a jacket and a scarf but he had a suite on and that was no dress code for Kiev believe me LOL So i got outside and walked down to the shopping center area hoping to find a store where they sold gloves to keep my hands warm. No luck they all opened at 10:00 so i said to myself ok i am too cold to wait for 30 min so let me take a cab to the wonderful park area and that cost me 70 local money. Got there and of course the cab driver didn't have change for 200 so we drove around the area to find someone to change it with and we did. Then i asked him to drive me back again to the entrance from there i walked in through an open gate where i did have problems walking without sliding with my boots. Still, there were a lot of things too see there as you can tell from the photos i've posted. I spent almost 2 hours there taking photos looking at the wonderful details on the churches while my hands were getting cold red or should i say cold blue LOL at least it felt like it. I slided down hills just to reach down to buildings i just had to see. I am sure there are others like me who just have to go there despite the weather or clothings you are wearing lol...I wish i was able to see more of it cause i saw one massive statue of a woman with a shield and a sord that i wanted to go to but i had to give up due to the fact my hands were red, numb and dead. At least they felt like that, while i was walking thowards the exit i saw a small ATM inside a room and walked in there for some warmth. The lady standing there said batteria or something like that and when i turned around i saw a heater:) I wasn't taking my time putting my hands down on the radiator trying to get some feelings into my hands once again..I think i stood there for 10 min before i actually went outside again and took 5 more photos or so and headed straight for the taxi that was less then 10 meters away from me:) I showed him on my map where i wanted to go but he didn't understand that either so i just told him to take me to the hotel. Once i got there i was still cold even an hour later i wasn't feeling the warmth. I went to the bar to buy hot tea and while i sat down a drunk German came my way and tried to have a "conversation". His two friends finally came over and took him away and appologized for their friend. Still, no harm done and i am a big girl who's able to look after myself hehe Still, i was gald they took him away.
Finally at the airport going back home to Oslo:) We got there and due to the airport being so small we were told we could only go through security 2 hours before the flight were leaving so we looked around for a place to sitt. We found one really nasty place where you could walk in and you've probably breathed in 10 sigaretts...LOL So we tried another place that was upstairs. At first it looked kind of odd having a sign in flashing red arrow which reminded me of other things then a nice eating area. Surprisingly enough it was a very nice little eating place where i tried the Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup. Oh my it tasted great..Loved it..I left Ukraine warm inside with a nice taste in my mouth....:)
