Amsterdam TravBuddy Meetup - Let the Good Times Roll
Saturday, January 26, was one of the most dynamic and diverse days in my life.

From there, I caught a train to the Amsterdam Central station. I took a canalbus ride through Amsterdam and played tourist before heading back to the station for the TravBuddy Meetup. Little did I know the amazing adventures that lay ahead that day.

We gathered at Amsterdam Central's meeting point. It was so much fun to see TravBuddy after TravBuddy approach us. We started trying to guess what the screen name was for each new friend.
After we had waited sufficiently for everyone to arrive, we walked a couple of blocks to Smits Koffiehuis. Alex did a fabulous job of finding and reserving a back room for us that was superb for mingling. It was tremendous to see a group of strangers quickly become pals. Before leaving, we took group photos, both inside and outside.
From Smits, we strolled a few blocks to Humphrey's. Wendy arranged for us to have a delicious three-course meal in a special section of the restaurant. Later, Charlotte, on her own initiative and kindness, presented both Devi and Wendy with awards for hosting such a marvelous TravBuddy meetup. During dinner, I found two Dutch gals, Sanne and Raphke, willing to show this crazy American around their hometown of Maastricht the next afternoon.
After supper, the entire gang traipsed around Amsterdam looking for a bar or club that could accomodate our large group. Fortunately, Alex found a friendly place in the Nieuwmarkt area that fit the bill. The good times rolled until well after midnight when Alex, Eef and I said our goodbyes and wandered back to the Amterdam Central Station just in time to catch the final trains to our separate destinations.
