This morning we awoke to no hot water in our
apartment and the Krakow Hourly Trumpet Signal. The bugler played his tune on the hour and stopped in the middle
as is the tradition. The story says
that he stops because the original bugler from long ago was warned to stop
playing, but continued to play every hour on the hour and was shot with an
arrow in the middle of the song.A
better explanation can be found here.We
talked to the girls managing the apartment in their office downstairs about the
hot water and one of them came up and showed us how to reset the pilot
light. They also run Cracow-life.com from this office.Today we walked around Krakow’s City Center
(One of 10 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Poland), St. Mary’s Basillica, St.
Wenceslaw Cathedral at Wawel Castle and the castle grounds.Along with wandering around the city center,
watched part of a jazz festival and the World Cup final match between Italy and
France in the Krakow city center Market Square.Italy beat France in a shootout 5-3 (Game tied 1-1).Walked = 10.28 miles.
Hi, sorry to intrude but I was looking for some information about Portree and found your blog by chance. First of all thanks for sharing this information.
I've seen the statue up here last year when I was travelling in Switzerland. Apparently it was bought by a bank and later donated to the city of Lugano where it's now placed in it's Independence Square :)
