why do dodgy folk hang out at bus stations?

So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

why do dodgy folk hang out at bus stations?

We took the private transfer from Copan to Guatemala City to avoid changes and waiting around etc.

The minibus dumped us at a shopping mall about 3 miles out of Guatemala City leaving us with having to get a cab to the hotel (that no taxi drivers had heard of...probably explains why it was empty) for the night.

Next morning we left the big bags in storage and packed day sacks to go to Coban. The station was just around the corner and as we arrived we were swamped by several peculiar smelling chaps asking us where we were going. The peculiar smell didn't necessarily make them 'dodgy folk' however, this tag was earned with the 'where are you going' question...you can go only to Coban from this terminal.
