why didn't we book a room?

So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

why didn't we book a room?

So, it's 10.30pm, its pissing down with rain and we have been dropped off in El Chalten. Now, El Chalten has no street lights, paved roads or pavements and we have not booked a room. No problem, we thought. Oh bugger, all the hostels are full. There we are wandering around in the pitch black, getting soaked and trying to find a street sign.

Eventually find a free room in a hostel that is, how can we put it, a little rough around the edges (and the middle) but it is better than pitching the tent on the roadside in the rain. And they have a bar. Plough through a bottle or two, much better....
