A flight into the middle of Australia brought us to the city of Alice Springs, a nice little place and a lot more modern than I was expecting. There are Coles and Woolworths supermarkets here for anyone heading this way, the cheapest place to stock up until Katherine!!

Aboriginal people sell their paintings on the streets or from the many shops in town. You can buy all kinds of aboriginal art work from here although the prices are very steep. We found cheaper prices in the tiny towns north of Alice.

After picking up our new campervan and stopping at Coles to stock up the cupboards, we hit the road and headed for Kings Canyon, a mere 474km away. We got upgraded from a Backpacker camper to a Maui, although they look identical inside. We were very pleased with Maud the Maui van and had much more space than our WA camper. We also had the added bonus of a fridge.
