So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

hot and bothering

OK so for some reason we considered stopping here for a night after the long and hot bus journey this far. However, Belize City is pretty horrible and nothing to do so we thought better of it and got the next bus to Dangriga.

We soon discovered that Belize is an expensive place. It was also a little strange as everyone speaks English ad for the first day we naturally kept speaking in Spanish only to be frowned at. Oh and the Queen`s head is on the money!!

lol Belize only recently gained it's independence from England and there were mixed emotions about it. While I was in Belize I talked to a local about this. He told me they were only given 12 days (I think) notice about the declaration and there wasn't enough time for them to react. He refused to answer whether they were better off now or not. You're right about Belize City not having much to offer. It's a good base came though for visitin the Mayan Ruins. I went into the countryside and hiked through the jungle and did some cave tubing which was phoenomenal.
