So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

happy birthday Rilou

After driving along the dirt track to Totaranui, we parked the car and headed off to the beautiful beach. the weather was perfect with not a cloud in the sky. we waited on the beach for our pre-booked water taxi and at 3pm climbed aboard and sped along the stunning Abel Tasman coastline. As we approaced Tonga beach, we circled Tonga island and spotted a few seals sunbathing on the rocks and swimming in the crystal clear water.

We were dropped at Tonga and walked alond the winding path up into the tree line then down again to the beach until we reached Onetahuti beach and campsite. Here we set up tent and then went exploring around the area. We later ran into the sea up to the thigh but chickened out of a swim as the water was a touch on the chilly side despite the heat of the day.

The evening was very mild as we played cards and cooked up some grub on our little camping stove. we sat on the beach to watch the sunset and enjoyed the warm sea breezes. This place is paradise, well except the sandflies, and we can't believe that my November birthday was celebrated with such a warm sunny day! perfect.
