Simon relaxes on the balcony

Wedding Day!!!!!

Woohoo profesh hair and make up!! Had a right shock when I looked in the mirror after my make up was finished - quite a shocker when you are used to looking so shite without make up for 4 months of travelling. And don`t get me started on trying to walk in heels again....

Dad and I made it to the beach, an hour late, but we got there. Once we started walking along the sand aisle lined with coconuts and palm leaves, and the music by our trio of local latino musician people began playing, I could not have been happier and there was Simon beaming at me from the 'alter' (2 pieces of wood leant against each other) and I beamed back!! We just about made it through the ceremony in time to get some wonderful shots of us and family on the beach with the most fantastic sunset over the ocean.

It really was the most perfect setting. We enjoyed cocktails on the beach and then cut our cake, which was covered in orange and white orchids.

After a few dances on the beach with latino music from our fab trio and their guitars, it was soon pitch black and so we made our way to the restaurant where we enjoyed a fantastic evening. We went to La Hacienda, with Tracy the owner doing a wonderful job of providing beautiful flowers and setting up our table to perfection (wish she was our wedding planner). The food was bloody fantastic and the drinks flowed all night until it was time to return to the luxury of our villas.

Despite the panic of being a bit late, consideration of murdering our planner (she was not the best), and almost getting married in the dark, we had the most wonderful wedding and we could not have picked a more perfect location. And Simon and most of our guests were all bare foot in the sand, which somehow made it even more special (must be something to do with being from England).

If you fancy getting married whilst backpacking, it really is possible!!! We did it!! Now back to the hostels, local buses and flip flops...
