We left our big packs in our hostel in San Sal and off we went in search of a bus to Santa Ana, the first stop on our 5-day trip around western El Sal with our wonderfully small and light day sacks.
We had to go back to Terminal Urine, or Oriente as it is actually called, and hopped on a chicken bus to Santa Ana. The journey took us through beautiful scenery with volcano cones popping up everywhere.
There isn`t a lot to Santa Ana really, our reason for coming here is to go to Cerro Verde in the morning, about an hour from here. So with little to do in a hot and dusty town, we spent the arvo wondering about, had a peek at the very impressive cathedral and then headed off in search of some westernisation - the mall. Sorry! We decided to catch up on the cinema and watched The Holiday, that one with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet swapping homes for a few weeks, bloody fantastic and very funny we thought. Kate´s little cottage in the very English snowy countryside complete with sheep made us a bit homesick though, especially when they went to a lovely little English pub and had a pint.
