To the Smile Bar!

OK OK so we bitched about it yesterday but hey ho it was only a matter of time before we stopped being grumpy long enough to join in!!
By some miracle, we met up with our dear aussie friend Bec, who we met way back in Bolivia in August 2007, in Vang Vieng. Bec being Bec had established a big group of friends and was all set for another night of hard partying on the little party island across the bridge that we didn't even know existed!
We met up with Bec and some of her pals in one of the restaurants (and yes, Friends was playing on the TV) and had some yummy food and a few bottles of BeerLao to get us started.
Wrapped up in fleeces and my pash, we headed off to the Smile Bar - basically a piece of land on the little island, with a big bonfire roaring in the middle and a shed as a bar. It was like a scene from an illegal rave in the UK. We ordered a bucket of Lao whisky with 7Up (yeah baby) and proceeded to spend the evening dancing around like idiots with a whole bunch of other travellers and get rather drunk on cheap booze via a bucket and straw.
As the pictures suggest, it was all fun and games and a real laugh. Not sure what I am doing trying to climb up a pole in flip flops though.....
