So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

The Land of Fire

We somehow managed to drag our arses out of bed to catch the 9am bus to Tierra del Fuego National Park, just as the snow started to fall.

We arrived in the park armed with a map and off we went on our chosen route. The scenery was stunning but we soon lost sight of it as the snow mist came down over the mountains and the flakes fell. It was wonderful! It felt like Christmas and we walked along a winding path through forests on the edge of a lake. Couldn't see the mountains though.

As we came to the end of our route, the snow had stopped and we found a little cafe that had a roaring fire and served hot chocolate so we took time to defrost a bit. We ventured out again, the mist had lifted and the warm(ish) sun bathed the spectacular views. We walked along Lake Roca as hawk bird things swooped around and white, black and brown rabbits bobbed about. After taking lots of photos and nearly falling into the lake for the sake of one photo, we caught the minibus back to Ushuaia and headed to a parilla for a rewarding dinner! Simon had pretty much an entire lamb to himself (fantastic). It was then back to the hostel to pack in preparation of our bus journey to Chile in the morning and set the alarm for a rather daunting 430am.
