Iguazu Water Fell

So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

Iguazu Water Fell

First glimpses of the Waterfalls before we got rained off

We arrived in Iguazu after a long long journey and were finally relieved to find a great little town with bumpy roads and a jungle background. After a few days sunning ourselves by the pool and enjoying the cerveza in the numerous bars and restaurants, we hopped on the local bus to the Parque Nacional Iguazu.

On our first attempt, we dressed in the usual Iguazu code of shorts, t-shirts and flipflops to best cope with the hot hot hot temperatures. Unfortunately for us, as we entered the park the skies turned a dark blue-grey and thunder rumbled in the distance. We hoped it was the noise of the waterfall. As we approached the first glimpse of the waterfalls, the heavens opened, thunder shook the walkways and lightening struck the ground a little too close for confort. After about 30 seconds we were soaked to the skin and shivering pathetically.

A word of advice: always pack the waterproof.
