Happy Birthday Duckie!

So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

Happy Birthday Duckie!

I had a very memorable 27th birthday and spent most of the day in a river!! We went 'duckie-ing'. A duckie is the inventive name given to a 2-man inflatable kayak and we spent 4 hours on the Manso river on class 3 and 4 rapids. The class 4 bits were brilliant and a bit like approaching Iguazu Falls and leaving you unsure if you are going to make it or not. Simon spent quite a bit of time in the river after getting stuck on a few rocks and capsizing here and there.

It was great fun and after all the white water bit we went to a little farm in the middle of the mountain valley and had an asado (bbq). Everyone had bbq lamb and I had my very own chicken (dead and bbq-ed of course). Yum yum. We finished the day in style by going out in Bariloche and getting completely trolleyed and met up with a friend from Buenos Aires who shared my birthday. Couldn't summon the energy to go clubbing (I think I am too old now) and stumbled into bed at 3am. Oh the fuzzy head the next day......
