Arrived in the nice little town of Villarrica and had our second fantastic view of the perfect cone of Volcan Villarrica, with its snow covered peak set against a bright blue sky (first saw it back in November when we climbed the Argentine side of Volcan Lanin and could see Volcan Villarrica from the top). We were planning to climb the volcano on our 2nd day. The weather had other ideas....
We stopped in the Torre Suiza hostal and found we were the only guests. A nice big wooden house but the Swiss owners are rather grumpy and we felt like we were intruding in their home. They have a gorgeous black lab puppy called Rosti but the poor little thing has to live outside in the freezing cold. We did consider stealing her.
We did find a great bar-restaurant that we spent Friday night in, Travellers was its name and it had curry on the menu - woohooo!!!! We had a fantastic night of said wonderful curry, several lovely pints accompanied by fantastic 80`s and early 90`s music, and an inability to stop laughing all night to Simon`s ("like, sooo funny") Vicky Pollard impressions.
We planned to climb the volcano but sadly the weather turned against us and we ended up with a day of non-stop rain, grey skies and strong winds. Very much England in February. ("like, sooo not funny")
