Our 5th and final day, we got up at a frightening 5am and Mr Chat and his tuktuk were waiting for us outside at 530am. We arrived with a lot of other people at Angkor Wat and walked into the main area to pick a spot for sunrise. We first of all sat on one of the small temples facing Angkor, as most of the crowd were gathering in front of the lake. We sat here for a while as the light of the new day began to lift the darkness from around us. It was rather cloudy so we didn't think it would be a very impressive sunrise. Restless, we went for a walk into the Angkor temple. There was hardly anyone else there and we climbed up the steep and very worn steps of a small temple. Here we watched the sun rise above the main domes of Angkor. We then walked around and then back out to the lake. By the time we got there, the early sun was just above the temples but there was hardly anyone there now. So we had the lake pretty much to ourselves and took a lot of pictures of the beautiful scene of the sun rising over Angkor Wat.
Once we were satisfied with our sunrise venture, we headed back to the tuktuk and waved goodbye to Angkor. A truly amazing place, our favourites were Ta Prom, Bayon and Preah Khan.
On the way back into town, we stopped at the Children's Hospital to donate blood.
It was then a check out at noon and took the 1230pm bus to Phnom Penh.
