Day 3 - On yer bike!

On our third day, we decided to hire a bike from our hostel ($2 per bike, the money going to charity). We peddled the easy 7km or so along the busy road out to Angkor, trying to navigate around the rather hazardous road users. We cycled past Angkor Wat, already heaving with tourists at 9am, and biked under the impressive Angkor Thom south gate.
We continued on to Bayon. This temple is just super, very different to what we had already seen but unfortunately for us, absolutely heaving with tour groups. We battled through the crowds to marvel at the amazing faces of the temple, expecting an eye to open at any moment!
We biked on for quite a way until we got to Preah Kham which was just incredible, a firm favourite. Nature has been allowed to do its job here with huge trees spilling over parts of the ruins and walls, giving it a truly mystical feel. We walked around this temple for a long time, so many parts of it to explore and photos galore!
We had a long day today, biking about in the intense heat and drank a heck of a lot of water bought from the ever-present locals. We also visited Baphaon, the Central Square of Angkor Thom, the North Gate, Ta Keo and a few other spots. We had a sandwich at the top of the Royal Palace, enjoying the releif of the shade and a rest!
