Day 2 - The Roulos group
February 13, 2009
After a lazy morning, we took the tuktuk with Mr Chat to the Roulos group of ruins, out to the east of Angkor Wat. There were very few tourists here so we had the place almost to ourselves to wander about the ruins. These ruins are not as impressive as some of the bigger more popular ruins but they have their own kind of magic. The Sanskrit on some of the doorways is still very clear and on some look almost immacualte.
There are a few sites at the Roulos group and well worth the look if time is not an option. One of the temples was very grand with a beautiful walkway over water, similar but on a much smaller scale to Angkor Wat. A climb up the steep worn steps was worth the effort for the view across the surrounding area and to explore the temple itself.
We also stopped off at a small shop selling silk scarves and watched some being made.
