So this is our 2.5 year trip!! One year on the long and bumpy road of South and Central America. Our second year started off with 12 weeks in New Zealand, then we headed to Australia! Eagerly clutching our working holiday visas we stayed in Australia for one year for work and travel. The last leg of our 30-month trip was 3.5 months in SE Asia. (We are home now and oh how we miss travelling!)

Arrived in Cartagena, Colombia to rain!!

Cartagena is that place with the huge forts where Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner escaped from some nasty colombian people and hungry crocodiles in the 80`s film, Romancing the Stone. Had a look around the fort and walked underneath the fort through the tunnels! Really good but a bit scary, all those dark, eerie corners!

The old town of Cartagena is beautiful with fabulous old buildings and cobbly streets, although there were a lot of people and traffic.

The only  prob with Cartagena is the lack of places to eat other than the usual ropey bit of meat and rice. We did eat in a local cheapy (yep soup followed by rice and chicken). All very nice and cheap, with cold and cheap beer and then we spotted a huge rat running about, heading out of the kitchen. Maybe he thought he was going to end up in the saucepan.
