Back to Chile
Had a few days in Santiago, just enough time to sort out post and our flights to Panama. We sent a load of gear home as now heading for Central America, so we sent home the tent and camping gear, our walking boots and a heck of a lot of clothes that we either don't need for the warmer weather of Central (I parted with one of my 3 fleeces) or that we simply haven't used as we packed too much stuff. In the end, we sent back two huge boxes and it cost us a horryfying 85 quid!!! Yikes!! But well worth it for the lighter, smaller packs! Yay!
Santiago is not bad for a capital city but very expensive and so incredibly busy. The traffic and people rushing around everywhere was a bit overwhelming after nearly 3 months of mountains and the wilderness. We found a nice place to stay for 2 nights though and had our own room with a TV! That's a first! So got a bit lazy watching ER repeats and films like Love Actually on cable, after finding a Chinese take-away around the corner to complement our couch-potato evenings.
