Dad came to stay for a few days, this is what we saw...

Mount Wellington

Dad had been to Tasmania once before, but it was before I had moved here. He had also been to the top of Mount Wellington but it had been snowy, windy and cold the day he visited and he did not enjoy his visit there.

Today when we headed out, the weather was perfect and even though I did not have a spare tyre (it was a public holiday and the tyre repair places would not be open until tomorrow) I decided to take dad to the top of the mountain.

Even in good weather, the top of the mountain can be cold and windy; however, today it was perfect. My father, who is very thin blooded after living in the tropics for at least the last 20 years could get away with only wearing a lightweight jumper. We wandered all over the top of the mountain taking in the view from all sides. We thoroughly enjoyed our time up there and stayed for a couple of hours.

The evening we spent at a good friend’s home with her family and then after dinner we all went to watch some fireworks over the river. What a perfect ending to a perfect day.
