Slept well(ish) on the couch , its my turn for the bedroom from tonight , but since ´match of the day´ will be on tv at 23:20 i have told my golf buddy he can have another night in the bedroom , otherwise it would keep him awake .Better i dont mention the results today but suffice to say that i am not happy .

We went to Mijas Pueblo today by car , ít´s only 20 mins from Fuengirola , up in the hills and it is very very nice , quaint  and clean and tidy .Most of the building are terraced and painted in white with pastel colour trimmings , it looks  very spanish , we didnt have to pay to park the car and there are many ceramic and leather goods shops , also many cafes and restruants  all appear tasteful .

Whilst we were there several coaches arrived and mostly it was Spanish tourists , mostly middle-aged  and again i couldnt help but notice how small many of them are and also they either have square shoulders or wear coats that give that impression .And do they natter !!!

We saw a few kids going around on donkey rides thru town and a few horse drawn carriages with visitors in , i have got about 40 pics  but the girl who is supervising this internet cafe cannot find the  digi card adaptor and i will not press the issue .I think i have some beauties  but will not know for sure ´til they are on a pc .

Mijas is on a hillside and looks down over Fuengirola and the towns on both sides and beyond that the sea .Again the weather has been frankly , lousy and i expect good weather in my forthcoming New York visit to compensate .

Today we had about 1 hour of sunshine and for a lot of the time it has been between 80 % and  100% cloud cover , and windy .

There are many stairways and narrow alleys , nearly all painted off white , many of the houses have  a kind of terracota curved tiling over the roof .

We walked  thru town and up towards a hilltop that overlooks the town and we found that there  is a steep pathway that leads up into the hillside , the top of which had misty clouds sitting on it .Up we went , me wearing open toed sandals , the path was solid with small boulders and brown sandy  soil . In 80 minutes we only saw one other person and had some excellent views of Mijas , the costa del sol coastline  and beyond that  , the mediteranean  with sunlight glittering off it thru the clouds .

donkey trip and Mijas Cafe , where we got lasange

Problem is that when we stopped walking it was cold , although we had fleeces on , my feet were freezing .

We went back down into Mijas for food , it was about 13:00 and many others had the same idea , we could nt understand all of the menus of the spanish restruants and also they were full of these small Spanish tourists who were creating a terrific din with thier talking (all at once)

I dont understand how people can talk non-stop and eat at the same time , but still its their country .Almost out of town we found a quieter cafe with menus in english and it was in fact english run , by now we were starving and were beyond   any nationalistic preferences , we got 2 x veggie lasagne , a portion of chips , 4 coffees and two portions of apple pie and custard (lovely) for Euro 28 .

Mijas central , oranges .

It was called Mijas cafe and i think i have a pic of it with  a horse and carriage passing it , will find out tomorrow .The cafe filled up with other brits , some of whom knew the owner , and it also became quite noisy .

From Mijas we drove about 40 kils  to estepona  for golf again , once again dicing with missing the correct turn off and we had to pay a road toll of Euro 3.4 . Those ducks from the other day snobbishly ignored us (but i did get a pic)

The wind had increased again and leaves are being blown off the trees .

Drove back to F´rola , its busy since its saturday  and  there are quite a few young  people about , i will qualify that by saying that generally

at this time of year  (dec, jan, feb)  , costa del sol is full of middle aged to old aged visitors and ex pats , many escaping the miserable weather in northern europe . We got a pizza again at Bogarts´, spanish football was on screen  Real Betis v Real Madrid and Betis were winning , but at half time they put disco/pop music on so loud that we had to shout to have a conversation , here i go again .
