My  Town

A Play by Old School Bill

A very small town in west central Florida

Gibsonton, Florida

Located in Hillsborough County  South of Tampa-West of I-75 Latitude 27.854 and longitude -82.383. The elevation is 7 feet. Population 8752 in 2000 the last time we all stood outside & counted off.  Gibsonton used to be famous as the winter home of “circus freaks” they are not around anymore.
The dwarf counter at the post office is long gone.
Gibsonton is a very small town in west central Florida.  What you see now in Gibsonton during winter time is the Carnies & all their equipment.  It is on both sides of Gibsonton Dr with signs that read for sale or trade & job offers to see the World.  The mainantance is getting done as well as fresh paint & the remodeling of their homes away from home.  This is one of the least touristy towns in Florida. There is still farm land being worked every day.  There is great fishing in Hillsborough Bay or the Alafia River I live off one that empties into the bay.  There is nothing fancy about Gibsonton just hard working people trying to hold onto Old School Florida it is getting harder all the time, we now have  a Walmart Supercenter talk about mixed blessings.
I just hope we can hold on to some of the OLD as the New arrives.
