This blog will cover my travels all over the USA in my RV. Take a look and because it is focused on each location I have visited, you can zero on areas of interest to you. I have made an entry for every stop in my travels.

From Yuma, AZ to Ajo, AZ, Copper mine, Organ Pipe Nat'l Park

Ajo Copper mine museum

Ajo, AZ. • Ajo is a small town located southwest from Yuma about 30 miles from the Mexican border. Its claim to fame was a large open pit copper mine which is now closed due to low prices and poor ore. I visited the mine and museum. The pit is almost 2 miles across and 1000 feet deep. What a hole! It’s unlikely that the mine will ever reopen because of the poor quality of the ore and low prices.

I also visited the Organ Pipe National Park where I saw thousands of Organ Pipe and Saguaro Cactus. Rugged country with a long loop road which got you into the park. In this area I ran into many border patrol vehicles and had to pass through one check point where they checked out my truck to see if I had any passengers.

Summary:

National Parks - 2

Elks Lodges - 1

Commercial RV parks - 2
