This blog will cover my travels all over the USA in my RV. Take a look and because it is focused on each location I have visited, you can zero on areas of interest to you. I have made an entry for every stop in my travels.

Lynchburg, VA to Charleston, WV

In my quest to explore the country and to stay off of interstates whenever possible, I decided to drive into West Virginia and see some of the state. What a mistake that was! My old non turbo Ford diesel did not like this decision at all. The hills I encountered crossing over the Appalachian mountains made the old truck grunt. It was a long tough day and when I found the Elks Lodge in Charlston, I said, OH Crap. It was on top a hill with a sharp hairpin turn in the middle of the steep driveway. Well, I made it and was directed to park on the grass next to a pavilion where the electric service was. Don't you know, I got stuck in the mud. rain for several days had made the area really soft and my heavy rig sunk down. It took me over an hour to extract my self from the mud. What a mess I was.

Spent 3 rainy days here and as soon as the weather broke, I pulled out.

Summary:

Elks: 18, Escapee Parks: 5, Public RV Parks: 8, National Parks: 16, Major Ships: 5, Forts: 9

Expenses: 7 months on the road with an average expense of $1939 per month.

Man, sorry you got rained out. There is a lot of fun to be had in that state. next time through you should check out Pyne Mountain Farm, my favorite Bed and Breakfast / Vacation Farm in West Virginia.
