From Artillery Ridge, Gettysburg, PA to Brockport, NY Niagara Falls, Air show
I left Gettysburg after a fantastic stay and drove north up through Harrisburg to the Elks lodge in Brockport. NY. This drive crossed the Allegany Mountains and was a pretty drive.
The highlight of this stop was a day at Niagara Falls where I took a trolly ride all around the American side of the falls and a great boat ride on the Maid of the Mist. It went right up to the edge of the falls and with the mist coming off of the drop, got me quite wet inspite of the flimsy rain poncho they provided. Good thing it was a warm day. Fortunately it was not too crowded the day I was there and the amount of foreign visitors was amazing. There seemed to be a lot of visitors from India. The falls were spectacular to see and this was one place I have always wanted to visit and glad I did.
Later while in Brockport, I took a drive down to the little town of Genesco and attended a great air show. The airport was a large grass strip which made it quite unique. You just don't see big grass airfields any more. It reminded me of the films of the many grass strips in England during WW2. The air show was great with many old WW2 bombers and fighters doing flybys. I have attended many airshows and this was a great one.
