Fairfax, VA to Lynchburg, VA., Appomattox Nat'l Park
November 13, 2002
After a long and very interesting visit to the Capitol, I moved down to Lynchburg, VA and parked at the Elks Lodge there. My reason for this stop was to go and see Appomattox, the site of the end of the Civil War. It was here that General Lee surrendered the Confederate Forces to General Grant.
The court house and surrounding buildings were well preserved and the displays in them were well done.
Summry:
Elks Lodges, 17, Escapee Parks, 5 Public RV Parks, 8 National Parks, 16 Major Ships, 5 Forts, 9
Expenses: 7 months on the road with an average expense of $1939 per month.
