National Museum

We feel like we would miss something if we did not visit the national museum of every country that we visit. Well, Singapore national museum is certainly very well funded (compare to my country national museum) with interactive video. It is really too bad that we visit it a little too late because we could not visit the special section which is already closed when we arrived. I visit this museum the second time and found out that Singapore National Museum always have exhibition from other country coming here all year long! (The last time I visit was Austrian exhibition)

The architecture of the museum is blending of colonial architect with modern (what I call ‘glassy period’ as everything modern is just putting more glass)

When we walk out we also saw a plank that read 'Time capsule' for 25 year of Nation building, aparently it will be dug December 2009 to anyone who interested in what did they put inside twenty years ago!

We walk across the street and to another block and waiting at the traffic light.

We talk among ourselves when we realized that the traffic light did not turn green for pedestrian cross for a long while. I also start to notice that there are no local waiting among us, which is when I look up and read the blue board which basically told us that there is a time when this pedestrian cross would not work! We have to walk across the street 3 times around the traffic light to walk across. Because I feel stupid for waiting for so long, when I look at the other side of the street to see another foreigner whom standing waiting to cross on the other side, I wave to get their attention and pointing at the blue board. (They must think I was a crazy man) After they also realized that the pedestrian crossing would not be working on this side of the traffic light they too also walk round the other side of the crossing. It must have been the last leg of the round crossing when I saw a local (or at least I think she is a local) jay walk cross the red pedestrian light!! After all the warning my Singapore friend were told me about jay walking and fine after fine. I expected 4 squads of police come out of hiding to arrest that girl but nobody came. (I secretly wish they come because I was waiting for so long before I realized about time limit on pedestrian crossing) Anyway, we finally come to Kopi Tiem the food court we try to have our dinner.

 

There is a coffee shop and restaurant in the museum but we decided to go out and have our dinner out. When we walk to ‘Kopi Tiem’ yes, it is the food court but very nice clean food with air condition. (I always use number of local to judge, and Kopi Diem is full of local, it must be good) and I did not disappoint. I even have a pat Thai dish, from a Thai cook there.
