Varanasi Monkey Temple

After a good nights sleep until 8am I woke feeling still achy but much better, after a good big breakfast I am ready to tour the city.
The bus, another one with different drivers, arrives to take us around several Temples within Varanasi, first stop is the Monkey temple, built as a shrine to the god Hannaman, the place is just crawling with monkeys en mass, and where you get masses of monkeys you get masses of monkey droppings, so you need to take care where you put your foot at this place! Still it was interestingly different from any other temples we have been to so far, and its quite cool here.
Next it was to the visvanth Temple of Gold that is surprisingly well hidden behind other buildings, I suppose to protect the gold. We were not supposed to go inside; being non-believers, but I wasn't listening when that was said and stepped right inside and had a quick look before I was shown the door quite forcefully.
We toured around a few temples and monuments more before being taken back to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for us to wander or relax or just sleep as most of them intend.
I teamed up with some who were heading into the city, we bought a few souveniors mainly more elephants for my collection to give away back home. We stayed out and had a nice chinese meal, I think we are all heartily sick of Indian heavily spiced things, a little of it goes a long way, when your unused to so much spice.
We all walked home in the dark, back to my room to finish off the brandy I had got duty-free. Lovely evening only spoiled by Julie insisting on reading with the lights on half the night, but thats Julie!
