Since it seems like I’ve finally figured out what I want to do with my life, there’s no reason for me to sit here in Pennsylvania any longer. I’m ready to move somewhere where I can live The Adventure 365 days a year… So I’m going to scout out a New Homeland—and, of course, play music wherever I go…

0120 One of Portugal’s treasures (Por 009—new)

I’ve still got two days before my flight out of Madrid, and I am in no hurry to leave Portugal.  I notice a brochure stating that Evora is a World Heritage Site. It’s on my way, so I figure I have to check it out…

I reach the bus station and within a few blocks find myself at the gateway of a beautiful walled city.  Unlike other towns I’ve seen, here every house is freshly painted in white or earthy yellow.  I walk up to the main plaza, and up to the top of the wall with a nice view of the city below.  Nearby, the remains of a beautiful columned Roman temple…

Yep, Evora certainly deserves its World Heritage Site status.

I crisscross the old city a couple more times, wanting to make sure I don’t miss any of its hidden gems.  It’s got a nice aqueduct—not as impressive as the one in Lisbon though…

After seeing quite a bit of decay and disrepair here in Portugal, it’s refreshing to see a beautifully preserved old town…
