Days One, Two, and Three
July 15, 2006
So it's Day One. John and I have a packed car, a thorough CD collection, and 1500 miles to go.
The drive from Irvine to Pacific Grove is uneventful enough: we make reasonably good time (7 hours), consume less than half of our rations, and arrive before midnight (our goal). We hung out with my parents for the next two days and forgot our camera everyplace we went. Fortunately, about the only place we ever went was the living room. If you're desperate for some Pacific Grove scenery, there's always my Pacific Grove travel blog. It hasn't changed much since then.
Anyway, it was nice to see the family and my stupid dog (who is almost eleven...eek). It was a welcome break from the never-ending job search that has consumed my existence in Irvine. John and I were treated to some lovely food (see reviews) and watched a lot of Meerkat Manor on tivo. And staying in town for free is a plus, too.
We left for San Francisco on Tuesday.
