During Christmas we had several get togethers with friends, for gift exchange we did a game called "White Elephant" it was very funny!, i think i´ll do that next Christmas wherever i will be. For dinner on the 24th. December we invited family and friends over, we had baked stuffed turkey and several delicious salads.
I met many people from Germany living here, one night we were invited to a friend´s home to light the candles of the tree as they do it in Germany and we also had delicious typical cookies brought directly from Nuerenberg.
For New Year we had a Latin American party at home of a family from Ecuador, it was very international! Me and my friend wrote "The Will" as we do it in Ecuador, in "The Will" the Old Year represents an old man that is dying and says goodbye while gives advices to everyone.
Most of us at the party were from Ecuador so we applied some customs in this party as we do it in our country. We wrote all the negative or bad aspects of the year that is ending and we burned them to forget about it. At midnight we drank champagne or wine and ate 12 grapes as the clock bells rang, this is for good luck. Also we use to go out running around the block with a baggage filled with our favorite things, if you do this it means that you will travel a lot in the new year.
The Ecuadorians got as gift from our hosts the t-shirt of the National Soccer Team, Ecuador has been in the World Cup in two occassions and we are very proud of it because Soccer is our national sport.
