Lazy Sunday afternoon in victoria...looking for Bills grits and Hushpuppies
August 30, 2009
I am not going to go through all of the history of Victoria...I think I did that in some of my earlier blogs...
I had been sick for about the last 10 days or so...and I was getting cabin fever really badly.
Not that I couldn't go anywhere...I really had no energy. I had a really bad viral infection in the lungs...and very sore throat...but I was feeling 100 percent better today...and I needed to escape to the city...relax a bit while I could. Do some window shopping...take some photos...go to my work and see my schedule for September...because on Wednesday...it is back to work.
Oooooo and what a beautiful day is was...the sunrise was awesome (as usual)...the day was warming up with the promise of some good ol fashioned sunshine. ..warmth...and Vitamin D :)
I could smell the freshness in the air...a little crisp with the promise of fall just around the corner. Just a slight tinge of yellow happening on the maple trees...but so beautiful.
After watching the sunrise...I was planning my adventure. First was to wave to my neighbors...they are going on a trip and won't be back until the middle of September...(lucky guys). Tuggs and Toby...(my pooch and Toby upstairs dog)...are going to miss them. they always go over and visit the neighbors..have lunch...tea..a nap..follow them around their garden to check out the yummy grapes growing...plums...and the apple trees...then they come home for a bit and hang around Shaun and watch him as he is always busy doing something in the yards. ..then they go back to the neighbors and have a snack...more nap...then tuggys finally comes home to see me when I get home for 800pm. I work usually starting at around 430am-100pm...then come home for a couple of hours then back to second job from 400-800pm...then home sleep and up at 245am to start all over again. So because I have been sick I was lucky to have this Sunday off (grin). I don't go back to my main job until Wednesday.
Anyways I say goodbye to the neighbors...have a cup of coffee...put Tuggs in the house...and I make my escape plan into the city..
Yipppeee I can hardly contain myself...I almost feel like a school kid...or like I am going on some great adventure. Not good when you can't get out much...but I am excited all the same.
(It take so little to make me happy).
Away I go. I make my escape route out past some deer, then the winery and finally out to the highway...yipppeeee freedom...I can taste it. My blood is running...my heart is pumping...I am frrreeeeeeeeee!!!!! Hahahahahahaha
So I make it into town...and I want to take some photos of things I seems to always go by, when I am busy at work all the time...but never really have the time to just go and see...walk around a bit...do some window shopping...be a tourist.
I stopped into a few of my favorite places...chapter's was one of them...I hauled myself into the store as I needed a couple of books to read. I picked up The Time Travellers Wife..(NO I have not seen the movies wanted to read the book first). ..Then I picked up The White Queen by Philippa Gregory (She wrote the other bolen girl). I like the history of Henry the VIII...the tudor dynasty...This one is about Elizabeth Woodville whom married Edward Plantagenet (War of the Roses era)...and then The quickie by James Patterson...he writes suspense..murder and mayhem:) Grabbed a cup of coffee at Starbucks...then started my window shopping :):)
So come for a walk with me around the great city of Victoria on and Sunday afternoon...we will stop by some of my favorite places...Starbucks, She She Shoes...pretty shoes, Rocky Mountain Chocolates...(Island operated), Rebar's restaurant (they even have a cookbook out now)...just to name a few.
Come...come...follow me.
This will be something else to see beside my Secret trail...which is BTW the Best Place On Earth...for me.....
But Victoria has some beautiful and exciting things to offer too........
Okay...ready...set...go...start those feet walking...have some good shoes on we are going for quite a walk......
One last thing...this is dedicated to Oldschoolbill...who said I needed grits and hushpuppies...none here Bill...I may have to go on yet another adventure to hunt those things down....:):)
